Friday June 20th: MONTHLY LUNCH - JIMMY DEAN'S

Where: Level 1, Cnr Manning Road and The Esplanade, Scarborough

Parking: Enter the car park from Manning Road. Easy, free, undercover parking right alongside the restaurant

Time: 12 noon.

Cost: $9.95 Lunch Special offering a selection of 6 meals and includes a cool drink. Great value! (Restaurant is licensed)

Thursday July 3^rd - FILM – MISS PETTIGREW LIVES FOR A DAY – WINDSOR THEATRE INCL LUNCH

Where: Windsor Theatre , Stirling Highway, Nedlands

Time: 9.45.am (show starts at 10.00am)

Cost: $11.00 (includes movie and complimentary lunch of sandwich, cake and tea)

This is a self-described “fairy tale for adults” set in a Noel Coward London of 1939 with ornate and spacious flats, actresses of easy virtue and lavish cocktails. Guinevere Pettigrew (Fargo’s Frances McDomand), a middle-aged London governess, finds herself unfairly dismissed from her job. An attempt to gain new employment catapults her into the glamorous world and dizzying social whirl of an American actress and singer, Delysia Lafoisse (Junebug’s Amy Adams).

Wednesday July 4^th – Anglicare/720 ABC Perth’s KNIT-IN

Venue: GOVERNMENT HOUSE, PERTH

Time: 9am – 3pm You may attend for any part of that day that you wish.

Purpose: To produce much needed blankets and clothing for Anglicare WA’s Winter Appeal.

More than 600 people attended last year’s Knit-In and hundreds of other knitters were creating blankets all around the state. ABC presenters will make appearances throughout the day, with entertainment being provided by various groups from across Perth.

You can knit or crochet squares there and other people will stitch them together. Alternatively, you can knit or crochet at home and just take the squares or strips along on the day.

The requirement is that you use 8ply wool and #8 (4mm) needles, casting on 40 stitches and knitting 60 rows in garter stitch. The overall length and width of each completed blanket is to be 1.5metres. Alternatively, if you crochet squares, the overall measurement must still be 1.5m when finished.

To aid people stitching the squares together, and to cut down the amount of stitching required, if you wish, you can knit one square on the top of the other until you make the full length of 1.5metres. Strips would then only have to be stitched together, but each colour must still be the 40 stitches and 60 rows.

I believe we have several members (and friends) knitting squares at the moment. It will be interesting to see how many the Strawberry Tarts can come up with by July 4^th. Keep knitting, ladies!!

Saturday July 12^th: SEND-OFF TO THE ‘TARTS’ GOING TO TOWNSVILLE’S “GIRLFRIENDS GIGGLE” plus SCRAPBOOKING STRAWBERRY TARTS ALBUM

Where: 30 Bonnard Cres., Ashby

Time: 10.am to 4pm

BYO: Food and drinks (morning and afternoon tea, lunch and drinks of your choice) and also bring along a $15 gift voucher of your choice. These will be re-distributed with fun. You will all go home with a $15 gift voucher

Do come along and enjoy this day. Even if you don’t want to do the scrapbooking, just come along for the fellowship.

Sunday July 20^th: BY POPULAR DEMAND……GARAGE SALE-ING FOLLOWED BY MONTHLY LUNCH @ SPINAKERS

Meeting place: To be advised

Time: 8.30am. we will car pool and hit the local garage sales until 11.30am.

Lunch: 12 noon at Spinnakers Restaurant, Hillarys Boat Harbour

Cost: A la carte menu

Prizes: To be awarded to: (a) Big Spender (the one who spends the most) (b) Miss Stingy (the one who spends the least) (c) Bargain of the day and (d) Most unusual purchase.
